Dear friends and family,
For years I’ve felt strongly that I should go work with Pastor Vijay Babu’s orphan home. I’m finally free from high school, so I have been preparing to go on a 6 month trip to India. God blessed me with a job within 5 days of my big sister Emma’s wedding. I’m working 12 hour days, ripping apart big TV’s at an electronics recycling factory in Barrie; it’s taught me to never buy RCA, but Samsung and Sony are great. I know I will learn way more than I will teach during my time in India, so I felt I should raise all of my own support for this trip. The morning before my job search I prayed that God would make it easy for me to find a job if it was his will. I found the job online within the hour, and was hired the next day. I’m planning to leave at the beginning of January, and return at the end of June. Our God is so powerful, it’s not a battle between God and Satan, God has won. God is in control, Mathew 7:7 makes it very clear that God hears our prayers. Romans 8:32 says: “He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?”. I am really going trust in God’s promise to answer prayer when I’m in India; I will be writing updates regularly, and updating them onto a blog which can be found at http://jamesindiaupdates.blogspot.ca/ or if you would like to receive updates by email, you could send your email address to jamesjohnsonindia@gmail.com. I will send updates very often, and I will often ask for prayer- the orphan home is constantly running into problems, all of which are fixed by the grace of God. I once wished that I had a million dollars to give to the orphan home, before realizing that’s dumb. These kids see God’s hand in their lives every day, God provides every meal; they are getting a better education in faith than anyone with a million dollars. There are many times when Vijay will email a prayer request and mention that someone needs money for a hospital visit or food...etc. It took us a while to realize that Vijay was not asking for the money, but asking for prayer; Vijay relies upon prayer, and God answers him. God always provided the money for Vijay; we saw that even during his time with us in Canada. In my emails I will probably mention money needs, as the needs there are great, but all I ask for is prayer. However, If you do feel led to give, I’ve put a PayPal donate button on the blog. I wish to be very candid in my updates, I am a weak human, but my God is powerful.
I hope you all have a happy Christmas!
James
