new grace orphan home construction!

The new Grace Orphan Home is very well underway, and yet comes to a standstill now as we wait for God to provide.  Let me tell you a little about Vijay Babu, before I go on about the home Vijay was a compassion sponsor child from age 5.  When he grew older he was touched by the sight of orphans at the train station begging for food.  He then went on to start Grace Orphan home.

Vijay supports 10 pastors, an orphan home with staff and teachers, and many others. Any and all the money that comes in - every penny - comes from God. This is God’s orphan home, and Christ’s bride. The present  orphan home has quite a few issues; from snakes and even wild pigs able to get into the home, the children having to sleep in an inch of water during the rainy season,  a general lack of space, through to the destruction of the mess hall due to snakes destroying the foundation. The new orphan home hopes to combat these issues, providing a new home for many of the orphaned children in Gudivada.

So here is your virtual tour… I’ll try to give you a good mental picture of the new home.

From the front… you can see the full width of the building from this picture.   On the left you can see a wall just after the stairs,  and on the right - a wall just after the second floor stairs. These two walls make up the orphan homes full width.

Inside:  Here is a look at the inside, the lowest floor.  This is raised a good 5 maybe 6 feet off the ground to avoid flooding;  the man in the yellow is breaking land, and the man in the green, shovels it up to dump into the trench on the left. The first floor will be a meeting hall and mess hall, the second floor will be a study hall, and the third floor will be the sleeping area for the orphans
Right wall:  the walls are red brick with a kind of plaster pasted over top this was in progress as I took pictures.
Back wall:  this the back wall the men are just finishing up the plastering as I took the photo. The building to the right of the back wall, is another house entirely… very close, very tight… this is India after all.

please take note of the shelter on the right of the orphan home…

These 5 men sleep here to keep watch over the construction- they have been their since the start, and will stay until the end
